Product details

Despite your best efforts, occasional stress can creep into your day when you least expect it. Managing stress can help you feel better—from your mood to your physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

Stress Relief is a powerful addition to your calming lifestyle habits. This mood-support supplement makes it easy to incorporate three key ingredients—saffron, lemon balm, and ashwagandha—into your stress-management regimen.

Adaptogens for Stress Relief

Adaptogens are powerful herbs that help support healthy stress-adaption processes, and have been the foundation in traditional medicine around the world for centuries. The idea that a tablet could improve mental and physical performance in healthy individuals was first devised during World War II based on the traditional medicine in the Far East regions. Continued studies by toxicologist Nikolai Lazarev during the 1950-60s led to the development of the “adaptogens” concept, which could increase “the state of non-specific resistance” in stress.

Continuing research and a study on the Effects of Adaptogens on the Central Nervous System published in 2010 revealed that Adaptogens help the body to combat mild stress and help support the management of sensitivity to stressors.

Support Soothing Messages in Your Brain

Adaptogens support favourable reactions created by a wide range of cell signals in your brain. Stress Relief's active compounds help set off a chain of events that aid in supporting processes in adaptation to occasional stress.

Saffron (Crocus Sativus L.)

Saffron, the world’s most expensive spice, has a rich history of medicinal use throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East since 1400 BC. Ancient Persian texts describe one of its therapeutic uses as being ‘mixed with hot tea as cure for bouts of melancholy’, and over a timeframe of 4,000 years, it has been used for the treatment in as many as 90 diseases.

Modern studies have found that crocin and safranal, chemical compounds in saffron, have shown their clinical effectiveness in the management of mental health disorders, and significantly reduced depression symptoms, with less side effects than current treatments.

Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis L.)

Lemon balm has been found in the traditional medicine of Europe and the Middle East for more than 2,000 years. Recent clinical research (2014) has illuminated the work the herb does to help support healthy mood, stress adaptation, and calm feelings.

Its centuries-long connection to calming and stress management of the nervous system make it a key component in USANA’s powerful mood supplement.

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)

Ashwagandha, also known as Indian ginseng, is a central ingredient in India’s Ayurvedic healing system that has developed in the last 3,000 years. It’s based on the belief that your health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between mind, body and spirit.

A recent study (2012) looked at the effects the root extract would have on four focal aspects of stress, ‘Anxiety and Insomnia’, ‘Stress’, ‘Anxiety’, ‘Perceived Stress Scale’. The study found the subjects showed substantial reduction, between 44% - 69.7%, in all four measures of stress.

The combined strength of Stress Relief’s herbal trio means two tablets a day helps you support a healthy response to stress and maintain a balanced mood.
