TL;DR
It is easy to lose focus in a world of packed schedules and constant notifications, and your brain does all of that work through a network of neurons passing messages to each other. USANA CopaPrime+ is a daily supplement built around three nootropic ingredients — American ginseng, bacopa monnieri and whole coffee-fruit extract — formulated to support mental performance, including focus, alertness, memory and learning processes.
This guide follows the official USANA science: how neurons carry messages, what each ingredient is and what the official sources say it supports, where BDNF fits in, and what a double-blind, placebo-controlled study of the formula looked at. It covers the Australian formula.

How Your Brain Sends Messages
Your brain and nervous system work like a postal office. In the blink of an eye, or less, messages are received, processed, and then passed along. These messages control conscious and unconscious movements, learning and retention, mood and emotions, memory, and your senses.
Messages travel via specialised cells called neurons. The chemicals neurons make to carry them are called neurotransmitters. They travel along a nerve fibre called an axon, to be passed to the next neuron at a junction called a synapse. The synapses sit on the ends of branches called dendrites, which extend from the cell body to receive messages.
Habits That Support Your Neurons
Your neurons are some of the longest-living cells in your body, so keeping them healthy is key to maintaining normal brain function. Many factors support the strength and structure of your neurons, which are directly related to your cognitive function. Healthy ageing, supporting the body's response to mild, occasional stress, eating a balanced diet and exercising can all help maintain your brain's communication pathways.
Age, stress and lifestyle can weaken those pathways, which is where good habits and targeted support come in. Targeted supplementation such as CopaPrime+ can be added to healthy lifestyle habits.
What Is CopaPrime+?
The Australian product page describes CopaPrime+ as an advanced cognitive supplement formulated to support mental performance and healthy brain ageing. It is powered by InCelligence Technology and created with a dual approach to cognitive support, using naturally derived ingredients: coffee fruit extract, bacopa monnieri and American ginseng.
According to the same page, it assists in mental performance — focus, alertness, memory and learning processes — as well as brain health and healthy ageing, and it supports general health and well-being.
The Three Ingredients
American ginseng
Along with its antioxidant properties, American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) supports learning, attention, memory, clarity, mood and tranquillity. It contains special compounds called ginsenosides, which support a system in your body that makes acetylcholine, a chemical messenger that helps your nerves communicate. Acetylcholine helps your brain stay flexible and form new connections, which is key for learning and memory.
Ginseng has also been used for centuries in Chinese culture to help manage occasional stress, optimise mental clarity and promote soothing Yin energy rather than invigorating Yang energy.
InCelligence Cognitive-Support Complex and BDNF
The InCelligence Cognitive-Support Complex is a combination of ingredients that support cognitive health, including contributing to BDNF. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is one of four types of neurotrophins — proteins that control the survival, development, function and maintenance of neurons. Maintaining adequate levels of BDNF in the brain is critical for normal cognitive and nervous system function.
Bacopa monnieri
Bacopa monnieri, also known as brahmi or water hyssop, has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda. There are even reports that bacopa may have been used in India between 1500 and 1000 B.C. to help scholars memorise lengthy hymns.
The naturally derived extract in CopaPrime+ has a high amount of Serotonin Active Bacopa Glycosides, which target cell receptors that play a major role in cognition. Bacopa has also been shown to support the production of acetylcholine, and it can act as an adaptogen — a substance that helps your body handle the effects of mild, occasional stress.
Whole coffee fruit
The benefits of coffee go beyond the beans you brew: the cherry fruit those beans come from also offers valuable nutrients. The Coffea arabica fruit in CopaPrime+ is extracted using a proprietary process that preserves high levels of chlorogenic acid, a source of polyphenols, with low amounts of caffeine. Its potency has been shown to support healthy BDNF levels in clinical studies, and the extract also offers antioxidant activity.
What the Research Looked At
USANA funded a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, conducted by researchers from Central Queensland University and Deakin University in Australia. Forty healthy participants were enrolled and randomised into a treatment or a control group. They completed a range of validated tests to establish a baseline, took two tablets, and were re-tested about 45 minutes later while activity in the prefrontal cortex was imaged. After eliminating confounding factors, there were significant differences in three areas: working memory and accuracy, speed of attention and response time, and brain efficiency.
- Working memory (N-back task). Participants watched a sequence of letters from A to J and tried to recognise when a letter matched the one presented N times ago. In the 2-back test, participants taking the formula showed a 12.33% faster reaction time compared to placebo. In the more demanding 3-back test they showed 16% greater accuracy compared to placebo.
- Attention (Stroop task). Participants named the ink colour of words rather than reading the words themselves. Participants showed a 13.7% faster processing time from baseline relative to controls.
USANA's summary of the clinical studies is 12.33% faster reaction time, 16% higher accuracy and 13.7% faster processing speed compared to placebo. The two publications are Best T, Clarke C, Nuzum N, Teo WP, Nutritional Neuroscience, 2019;24(11):873-884, and Best T, Miller J, Teo WP, Nutritional Neuroscience, 2024;27(11):1293-1305. Study results apply to the conditions tested; individual results vary.
Who It Is For and How to Take It
CopaPrime+ is intended for all healthy adults over age 18 — including college students, career-focused professionals, and mature individuals interested in maintaining mental performance and memory. It was not designed for use by children.
The Australian label directions are simple: adults take two (2) tablets daily, spaced evenly throughout the day, preferably with meals.
